I am a wood sculptor based in the Elan Valley in Wales, a landscape of natural beauty rich with wildlife from which I take my inspiration. I create sculptures that enhance gardens, homes, and public spaces.
I work with locally sourced wood from sustainably managed forests. I particularly enjoy creating sculptures from trees that have fallen naturally or become hazardous or diseased, often old and rich with texture and history.
I began carving in 2012 at the age of 12, an art which has become a lifelong passion. I take part in national and international competitions. I received a second-place award at the European Chainsaw Carving Championship 2024 for my craftsmanship and creativity.
My carving process begins with the bold cuts of a chainsaw, roughing out the form of the sculpture, and finding movement. Various chainsaws with different-sized carving bars are used for finer shaping and texture. I refine the details using specialist carving tools such as chisels, sanding tools, and fine Dremel bits to add texture and bring my carvings to life.
